10 Effective tips for a faster Mummy Makeover Recovery:

Congratulations! You have just had a mommy makeover. This combination of surgical procedures such as tummy tuck, breast lift, breast augmentation and liposuction can contour your body, resulting in a youthful hourglass figure. But now it is time for the recovery period which is a remarkable phase of your surgical journey.

Although many women consider mummy makeover as a magic wand in regaining their pre-pregnancy body back, it is also vital to realize that the recovery period throws up specific challenges, that you need to overcome for achieving the desired outcomes.

Even though the mummy makeover recovery period varies depending upon the procedure performed, there are certain tips and tricks to make the most out of your recuperation. In this article, we will give you some effective tips, on how to have the most successful recovery from your mummy makeover.

Here are 10 tips to help you ensure a speedy recovery:

Take good care of yourself: We know that being a mother, you are a superhero for your family taking care of your children, household chores and juggling everything else in between. However, even superheroes need a break sometimes.

You got a mummy makeover to boost your self-esteem and confidence with your new aesthetic look. However, if you resume your normal activities without giving your body proper time to heal, you may end up causing more harm to your body. Therefore, you should take adequate rest to allow your body to heal properly.

Wear a compression Garment: After you have undergone surgery, it is of utmost importance that you wear a compression garment as directed by your surgeon. This is because the garment helps to deal with the swelling and prevent any fluid build-up. Additionally, it will help to support your newly operated area reducing the discomfort.

Maintain a good diet: It is important to eat a healthy diet, full of nutrients and vitamins to help your body heal.  Eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as lean protein, will help your body to heal more efficiently.

Additionally, staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water will also help your body to recover more quickly. So, if you are looking to bounce back from your mummy makeover as quickly as possible, please ensure to maintain a healthy diet.

Do not Smoke: It is very important that you do not smoke and consume alcohol following your mummy makeover surgery. Smoking can cause a number of complications, including infection, poor healing and reduced blood flow, negatively impacting your cosmetic results.

Therefore, it is essential that you abstain from smoking for at least 3 months post-surgery. If you are having difficulty to quit smoking, talk to your surgeon about alternate ways such as nicotine replacement therapy and counselling.

Do not skip post-operative appointments: It is important not to skip your post-operative appointments. Even if you feel better and have recovered from the surgery, it is important to follow up with your surgeon to ensure that everything is healing properly. Skipping post-operative appointments can put you at risk for complications such as infection, scarring and poor wound healing.

Take a short walk: It is important to know that a mummy makeover is a major surgery and you will need to take some time off for your exercises and regular activities. However, one of the best things that you can do to keep yourself active is to take a short walk every day.

Walking is a stress-free activity that can help you increase your energy and reduce your stress levels. It is also a great way to improve blood circulation reducing your risk of developing blood clots.

Sleep on your back: You will be required to sleep on your back for a couple of weeks following your mummy makeover. Also, you should not be sleeping on your side or on your stomach to avoid putting pressure on your newly implanted breasts or tummy tuck incision. To sleep more comfortably, elevate your bed’s head and use a couple of soft pillows to support your knees.

Keep your incisions dry:   It is important to keep your incisions dry and clean. This means that you should refrain from tub baths, swimming pools or getting the incisions wet. Also, the dressings needs to be changed as instructed by your surgeon to prevent infections.

Apply Cold Compresses: If you are dealing with excessive swelling after your mummy makeover, cold compresses are a great way to help. To minimize swelling, wrap or apply cold towels around the affected areas. Ensure that you use clean and soft towels and do not place ice directly on your skin.

Stay Positive: It is not uncommon to feel little down after your surgery. In fact, it is quite common. The key is to be prepared for it and to take care of yourself. Remember that you are on the road to recovery and that every day brings you closer to feeling better. With proper time and positive thinking, you will be back to your real self in no time!
